چکیده

The 11 km fringe visibilities of IRC ]10011 (\ CIT3) and IRC ]10420 have been measured at baselines ranging from 2 to 14 m with a two-telescope interferometer. The visibility data provide onedimensional proÐles of these two stars and their immediate surroundings with higher resolution in this spectral range than is presently possible with a single-aperture telescope. Spherically symmetric radiative transfer models suggest that IRC ]10011 is surrounded by a dust shell with an inner radius subtending which falls o† in density as r~1.5, slightly slower than the r~2 expected for constant dust outÑow. 0A.033, IRC ]10420 appears to have a dust shell of inner radius the density of which drops very slowly 0A.12, compared with that in a constant outÑow. This implies decreasing outÑow or a signiÐcant emission in the past. Subject headings : circumstellar matter È infrared : stars È stars : AGB and post-AGB È stars : individual (IRC ]10011, IRC ]10420) È techniques : interferometric

Integral-Field Spectroscopy of the Post Red Supergiant IRC +10420: evidence for an axi-symmetric wind

We present NAOMI/OASIS adaptive-optics assisted integral-field spectroscopy of the transitional massive hypergiant IRC +10420, an extreme masslosing star apparently in the process of evolving from a Red Supergiant toward the Wolf-Rayet phase. To investigate the present-day mass-loss geometry of the star, we study the appearance of the line-emission from the inner wind as viewed when reflected o...

Resolving the asymmetric inner wind region of the yellow hypergiant IRC +10420 with VLTI/AMBER in low and high spectral resolution mode

Context. IRC+10420 is a massive evolved star belonging to the group of yellow hypergiants. Currently, this star is rapidly evolving through the Hertzprung-Russell diagram, crossing the so-called yellow void. IRC+10420 is suffering from intensive mass loss which led to the formation of an extended dust shell. Moreover, the dense stellar wind of IRC+10420 is subject to strong line emission. Aims....

Mid-infrared interferometry on spectral lines: I. Instrumentation

The Infrared Spatial Interferometer at University of California, Berkeley has been outÐtted with a Ðlter-bank system to allow interferometric observations of mid-infrared spectral lines with very high spectral resolution (j/*jD 105). This paper describes the design, implementation, and performance of the matched 32 channel Ðlter-bank modules, and new spectral-line observations of Mars and IRC ]...

Mid-infrared Interferometry on Spectral Lines. Iii. Ammonia and Silane around Irc ]10216 and Vy Canis Majoris

Using the University of California Berkeley Infrared Spatial Interferometer with a radio frequency (RF) Ðlter bank, the Ðrst interferometric observations of mid-infrared molecular absorption features of ammonia and silane with very high spectral resolution (j/*jD 105) were made. Under the 3 4 assumptions of spherical symmetry and uniform outÑow, these new data permitted the molecular stratiÐcat...

THE RADIATIVE PATTERN AND ASYMMETRY OF IRC +10216 AT 11 m MEASURED WITH INTERFEROMETRY AND CLOSURE PHASE

The unusual source IRC +10216 is the brightest stellar object at mid-infrared wavelengths in the northern hemisphere. Adding to its distinctiveness, the dust around IRC +10216 almost completely enshrouds the star and has an extremely complex distribution. We report the imaging of IRC +10216 at 11.15 m with three telescopes and the closure phase at two different stellar phases. Three-baseline in...
